Meath women fourth in National Athletics League.





The top clubs and counties in Ireland were out in strength today for the final of the Woodie’s DIY National League final at the Tullamore Harriers Stadium. The new National League champions are Dundrum South Dublin in the Premier Women; Wexford in the Women’s Division 1; Crusaders in Premier Men and Kildare County in Division 1 Men.
The Meath womens team which has a very strong emphasis on youth did very well throughout the league and brought this form into the final. There were notable performances from a number of young athletes who were competing in their first year at senior level. They can be pleased with their achievement in finishing fourth just half a point behind Sligo.The results of the Meath athletes were as follows;
100 metres; 3rd,Aisling Watters,13.21.
100 metres hurdles; 3rd, Aisling Watters, 16.40.
200 metres; 6th, Sinead O'Kane, 29.84.
400 metres; 1st, 1 Karen Dunne,59.99.

3000 metres; 4th, Ciara Rooney,11.21.31.
400 metres hurdles; 3rd, Laura Heneghan, 76.30.
High Jump; 2nd, Karen Dunne, 1.50.
Long Jump; 1st, Karen Dunne,.5.29m.
Shot Putt; 2nd, Kelly Brady, 9.48.
Discus, 6th, Jean Daly, 20.82.
Javelin; 6th, Orla O Donnell, 26.97.

National title for Shane aston

Shane Aston, Trim AC added the Irish Junior decathlon title to his achievements this season at the AAI Combined events championships in Tullamore on 10/11 August. He continued his excellent form from the Scottish National Championships by collecting pb's in 100m hj pv and 110mh and winning the title by a margin of almost 800 points.  Two grueling days of competition over 10 events produced a new personal best points total of 6185 points, the highest points total of the weekend.
